Porting Round One - Vodafone vs Ofcom

Ofcom have got got called for figure porting clip to be quicker than it currently is. It currently takes approximately seven years for Numbers to port over, but Ofcom desire this to be reduced to two years by the 31st March 2008.

Three are backing this all the way, and O2 have announced that they will be introducing the two twenty-four hours porting two hebdomads earlier than the regulating needed day of the month of the 31st March. T-Mobiles views are not yet known, but Vodafone and Orange are against the alteration in porting time.

Vodafone have got appealed to the cat (Competition Appeals Tribunal) against Ofcoms porting proposals, there statement being that quicker porting volition addition lawsuits of mobile telephone 'slamming'. This issue could be easily resolved if the web contacted the client (via text) who had requested the figure port, stating the day of the month the port will travel through and asking the client to reach the web ASAP if they did not petition for this to be done.

In Eire Numbers are ported within a upper limit of two hours, and RegCom (Ireland's regulating body) are not aware of any rushes in 'slamming' cases. Surprisingly Vodafone should already cognize this as they have got got got got a 45% share of clients in Ireland.

Vodafone also claim that the cardinal database that volition demand to be created for the figure ports to travel through within two years volition be 10 modern times more that the £12 million that Ofcom have estimated.

The lawsuit will be held on the 5th March, any webs that also desire to step in will have to step in quickly as they only have until the 29th February to make so. Orange mean to formally register their involvements with the cat and BT haven't ruled out intervening as Vodafone are BT's MVNO partner.
