South Africa: Africans Access Borderless Mobile Phone Services - AllAfrica.com

More than 400 million people in twelve African states can now entree borderless mobile telephone services opened by Kenyan mobile telecommunications company Celtel International.
Celtel Selling Director Anna Othoro said the expanded One Network service will enable clients to do phone calls and direct short textual matter messages across Africa's geographical boundary lines at local rates.
Ms Othoro said on Thursday that the clients could also top up their pre-paid phones with locally purchased airtime card game which could be purchased at more than than 500 000 points of sale.
The One Network conception now integrates Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Sudan, Burkina Faso and Malawi. The conception was initially introduced inch East Africa, the Democratic Democracy of Democratic Republic Of The Congo (DRC) and Gabonese Republic in 2006.
The roll-out was announced simultaneously across all 12 countries, including Capital Of Republic Of Kenya and Kampala.
Ms Othoro said the service would be automatically activated upon crossing boundary lines with no anterior enrollment required or sign-up fee charged.
Celtel Kenya Head Executive Military Officer Saint David Gilbert Murray said abolition of roaming complaints within the part would heighten regional integration.
"The broadening and deepening of co-operation in the EAC and COMESA (East African Community and Park Market of East and Southern Africa) parts necessitates an equivalent investing in the telecommunication web and inducements to the public in ensuring that concern thrives.
